XTIE’s “Lost in Between” Enters the GRAMMY Awards First Round Voting, While New Single “Crying on the Plane” Set for Release on October 11th
Hong Kong – October 11, 2024 — Hong Kong native, a one-women powerhouse, XTIE (pronounced X-T) made waves again with her latest single “Lost in Between,” which achieved outstanding results. Within just one week of its release, the music video on YouTube surpassed 100,000 views, showcasing XTIE’s magnetic appeal and potential. Even more exciting, “Lost in Between” has successfully entered the first round of GRAMMY voting in the category of “Best Dance Pop Recording”. To continue this momentum, XTIE will release her follow-up single “Crying on the Plane” on October 11th.
“Lost in Between” shortlisted for GRAMMY “Best Dance Pop Recording” First Round Voting
Out of the 176 entries competing for this year’s Best Dance Pop Recording category, XTIE stands out not only for her exceptional talent but also for her dedication to this project. “Lost in Between” is a cross-regional collaboration between Asia and Northern Europe, featuring Finnish artist Anniina, with XTIE taking charge of writing and producing the song, alongside an all-female creative team. XTIE's entry has set a new benchmark for artists from Asia, showcasing to the world the creative potential and diversity of musicians from non-predominantly English speaking regions like Asia.
Sharing her excitement, XTIE said, “Thrilled!! We are qualified for the GRAMMY first round voting! It’s an honor to be listed among amazing artists like Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, and Porter Robinson etc. in the Best Dance Pop Recording category!”
A Song Born from Connection: “Crying on the Plane”
As an electronic genre-blending artist, XTIE’s new song “Crying on the Plane” is a bold attempt to experiment with liquid drum and bass and incorporate her signature pop elements. What started as a musical experiment quickly gained traction when she casually shared a snippet on Instagram, which received an overwhelming response. “I didn’t plan to make it a full song. I was just having fun making a liquid drum and bass track with my own touch and posted it on Instagram. It blew up, and many new listeners commented that I should turn it into a full song,” XTIE explained.
“Crying on the Plane” is inspired from a long-distance relationship that was doomed from the start. It isn’t just another travel-themed song — it features real aircraft sound samples that XTIE recorded during her recent tour, perfectly capturing the emotions of traveling and missing loved ones abroad.
“I’ll turn my flight mode on
so, we can both move on
Cos I’ll never find another you anymore”
“I always miss my cat when I travel,” XTIE shared, reflecting on the personal inspiration behind the track. “I had this idea of writing something specific — crying on the plane. I hope a lot of people can relate to it as traveling is such a wonderful experience but being on a plane is also a significant part of that journey.”
“Crying on the Plane” owes much of its existence to XTIE’s strong connection with her audience. She expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thanks to this tour, I got to meet so many people and draw inspiration from them. It’s amazing to see how a simple idea resonated so much with everyone.”
